We are looking for a Junior Data Scientist to enrich our team! You will take full part in our data science consulting practice, taking part in the delivery of high-quality models.

You have some experience with data science, either academic or professional. You already have a deep understanding of the field and would like to strengthen your skills. You are curious and enjoy working in a team, all the while being comfortable working independently.

Effixis is a Switzerland-based data science consulting firm, specialized in Natural Language Processing, with clients across Western Europe. Our team of data scientists and mathematicians work together to solve challenges such as:

• Applications of Natural Language Processing for the public health sector.
• Time-series forecasting for commodity buyers.
• Risk modelling for the insurance and reinsurance sectors.
• Anomaly detection in production lines for the pharmaceutical industry.
• Machine Learning and NLP for news aggregation.

What You Will Do

• You will work closely with our team of data scientists on both client projects and product development.
• You will be exposed to real-world challenging problems in various industries such as insurance, banking, healthcare and many more.
• We develop solutions for our clients from ideation and prototyping to deployment, giving you the chance to acquire key project management skills and discover new technologies.
• As an intern, you will be directly mentored by an Effixis senior data scientist. It is a unique opportunity to develop critical technical and practical skills in a fun and challenging environment.

What You Have

• BSc or MSc student in computer science, mathematics, or physics – Self-taught candidates will be considered based on their portfolio of past accomplishments (Kaggle competitions, Github, Certifications and projects).
• Programming experience in Python
• Experience with statistical modelling techniques
• At ease with public speaking and presentations
• Fluent in English and/or French (German is a huge plus)

Nice To Have

• Knowledge of R, SQL
• Experience with Natural Language Processing
• Knowledge of cloud technologies (Azure preferred)
• Knowledge of visualization tools such as PowerBI or TABLEAU
